next model?which one

Postby tufty on Sat Jan 30, 2010 7:24 pm

Hi,
Ihave been flying one of marks rc factory yaks and having a blast, but my thoughts are now turning towards building a larger more substantial electric version aerobatic plane:-
pre-requisites are,
1. the build needs to be reasonably straightforward.
2. Have good slow speed characteristics.
3.tame when needed /ballistic when your good enough ;)
4. reasonably durable,
5.easy to trim etc
6.doesn't cost the earth,replacement parts?
just a really nice second model for those balmy spring summer days.Any suggestions appreciated, many thanks vacey. :D

Gernot Yak without a doubt, saw 1 today and got some snaps!! it looks bloody awesome, fair size, little bigger than the RC Facotry but flies the same style....http://www.parkaero.com/gb-models-gernot-bruckmann-yak-55m-epp-fixed-wing---in-stock-now-337-p.asp

steves ,so you would still go along the epp route as against the traditional balsa covered route! isee you say they fly in a breeze, but are they much less unstable compared to a 30/50 size plane. :o

The problem is if you want a model thats cheap on repairs and replacememnt parts etc then dont go for a balsa/ply because if u crash then chances are most of it is smashed, now dont get me wrong it can be repaired and probably not too expensive but its the ease of it, with a larger EPP that can accomodate a 2200mah 3s Pack you'll have fun, it'll handle the wing with the extra weight behind it, THEN!! when your more confident that you arn't crashing every 5 seconds while practising (everyone does it!) get a balsa/ply model around 45" or so it'll take the same power set up then :D

you'll love it, if you need all the bits for it, may i suggest you give Mark(ParkAero) a call instead of buying it online as he'll give you a good price and establish what flying style you want before recommending anything.
