Don't forget the Acromasters eating EPP models, well I say that but they kamikaze'd us instead.

At 3:38, the bloke even gave us a dirty look despite appearing to be flying straight for the flightline.

As a result the advertising for Twickenham now explicitly says "NO ACROMASTERS"

Matt and myself had a great time at Twickenham.
Sure, it still has EPP numpties all over but with 8 hours you have time to wait until they're down.
I had just built a new yak for Matt which got hammered by a blade on the first flight - learnt after that to land when you see the EPP jobs go up.

Plan for next time is to take something EPP with a hot wire as a bumper around the front - fly around for a bit to carve all the other EPPs up, the the depron machines can take to he air.

If any organisers are listening, I am kidding but it would be worth having a sub 200gm slot, and when there's people who consistently crash into the pits, other people, my TX etc (and I'm talking every flight at least twice !), then ask them to land and stop flying a brick that does so much damage.

We'll be back but I'll have a new design, labelled "Blade Breaker" :)

Agreed mate but when you have driven so far the last thing you want is to get trashed on the first flight, you say wait for a space where there isn`t a epp up when we were going it just didn`t happen!!!! :( hense thats why we ended up flying in the corners!!! good idea with the weight loads of indoor venues have that now! :!:

I agree Dave. I sympathise with you if you'd travelled some distance. The organisers would do well to have slots there without a doubt.
For me we travelled an hour, which wasn't too bad, and like you say, there's always some EPP thing up - we were just waiting til the real novices were down - it didn't take long to work out who was an accident waiting to happen, and who could actually fly. There's usually a mix - those EPP'ers that keep crashing into anything, the EPP nutters, that want to break the world speed records, and then those that are happy to poodle around doing circuits - we were waiting til it was mostly the latter.

At the end of the day, we still had fun. I wouldn't want to fly any expensive shockie there, and you have to expect to get mid-aired. What I did love about it, was that having so much time, there was no real rush, oh, and for me it was real cheap, as kids were free, so I didn't have to pay for Matt (even though he flew more than me :D ), so it cost me a tenner for both of us for 8 hours. I also got plenty of time to natter, which was good - oh, and of course to give Fabien some tips on his flying - I think he learnt a great deal from me - these world champs need a bit of polishing you know

Cheers,

Darren

Sounds like nothing has changed !

Would like to go again as closer to Havant & Calshot events, suppose I have two options :

1. Join the EPP nutters
2. Join the EPP nutters

Just checked Robotbirds, suppose I'll need a blade and 1000mah 3 cell set up for good velocity and prop cutting power

Get yourself an IFO, use ripstop nylon for covering, kevlar pulp for securing the motor mount to the frames, MG servos and your ready for war. If you get one of these most people will land when you take to the air. flat out crashes into the wall and you just walk away with broken props. :D
