Just did a test fit - images below. I can't bring myself to use jubilee clips to retain the extensions onto the collector ring exhaust stubs. So, I've just spoken with my good friend Nick Butler, who is going to machine up a couple of bespoke clamps for me.

Got the exhaust extensions trimmed to length and installed. Managed to find some very nice hose clamps to keep the extensions in place.

Also made a D shaped cut out in the bottom half of the cowl, and them glued in place a carbon lip using 0.3mm tick carbon sheet. Tacked it in place with cyano and then ran a bead of Hysol around the join on the inside, to securely glue the carbon in place. Very pleased with how it looks.

Hope to see you back at PMFC soon, Dave

Just finished an upgrade job on the Moki 300. When I was at Andy's workshop to pick up the baffle he machined for me, he pointed out some carbon valve pushrods he has fitted to a Moki 250 in one of his warbirds.

Investigating into this, I found they are half the weight of the steel pushrods fitted as standard to the engine, allowing it to run about 250rpm faster. For a low revving radial engine, this is quite a big increase. So, I decided to give these a try and fitted them today. It was a fiddly job for sure, as each valve gap needed adjusting to account for the length of each replacement pushrod, though the adjustment feeler gauges are provided in the upgrade kit from Heilmann Sternmotoren: https://www.heilemann-sternmotoren.de/e ... -moki-info

So, on the next outing it will be interesting to see just how this works out. The Pitts already has great performance with the 300 (like unlimited vertical climbs and hovering at about half throttle stick), so this will hopefully boost that somewhat.

Four more flights today, Birdy started his hour with two 10 min flights and we have decided where to make little tweeks, the set up is really good from the start, but as always things can be improved :D
