Side force generators

Postby Matty on Mon Jan 14, 2013 10:48 am

Looking to make some SFG's for an aeroworks 60" extra 260 and a goldwing extra, does anyone have any templates? Plus any tips for mounting them, iv thought up an idea of making a ply rib tip, with 2 captivated nuts, glueing that to each wing tip then bolting the sfg's to that? Anyone else made a set up?

its an easy job
just get some 3/16 or 1/4 balsa and back with some thin ply
first get a template of the wing tip
then make up anything you like till your happy with the shape the cut it out
then heat the covering on the wing tip and peal back till you can get at the inside of the last rib
then get your template and drill through that and the wing tip where its clear
then get a M4 of bigger spiked nut and 5 min epoxy in place
if wing tip is not flat make it flat (pencil line and one of them cheap slide out craft knives )
then recover tip and cover your wings to match and just screw on and off as you need them
I did my undercarriage legs as well like the Seb ones
as that dam thing needed all the help it could get
then go fly ;)

thanks, have made the templates from card, looks like it will be balsa backed with ply.Was going to use 1/8 ply but i dont have a bandsaw so 1/32 ply backed onto 1/4 balsa it will probably be as balsa is easy to cut and ply that thin will scissor cut hopefully :D thanks again.

I think i used 1/64 ply dont need to be much and a couple of M4 bolts
round the edges and cover to match or something diffrent
did help that dam plane
big motor worked even better LOL
says a 90 but wast of time a good 120 would be fine
had an OS 160 in it that was great
Till Bango had a go as normal
