Very true, no fun at all on the maiden when as soon as it takes off the tail drops because it's soo tail heavy and is an absolute nightmare to fly, don't ask how i know
Anyway I am hoping Jon T will do the maiden so it will be in safe hands :-D

Certainly will - he knows that airframe "inside out" I'd hazard... and has flown mine too when I was getting it trimmed for IMAC :)

Thanks for the C of G settings Arun, just behind the middle of the wing tube worked out perfect.
The maiden went without a hitch, thanks to JonT for doing the maiden and helping with a few mixes, really looking forward to getting more stick time on this one :D

Well, that is if you don't include me running it out of fuel :( Just as well I was flying at maiden flight height!

So I thought i'd drop an update as this forum is pretty much dead and its nice having this build thread here to refer back to!

The model is still flying today nearly 8 years on and 712 flights later! The DLE 111 v2 is still going strong and i swapped the Hitec 7955TG servos out a few months back, had just one issue with one when I kicked the elevator at a fly-in at Hastings MFC! It's had a new tank as the old one got old and the bung went hard (the pipes were fine and never leaked Mr Wilshere!)

It helped me win an IMAC Sportsman when I first started and its since been relegated to "old pair of trainers" status as an occasional freestyle model as my newer Extra 104's have GP123 and DA120 with pipes for more schedule power!

The edges of the black covering peeled a bit then kinda stopped. The fuz has been completely re-covered as most of the longerons popped out of the formers in the rear of the model, so i had to strip the underside to get at them so decided to give it all a refresh. The fuz seems to twist and just pop them all out and i landed to find the vertical stab was somewhat detached!

I've since build 3 more for myself and 2 have had to have the same treatment on the longerons. One of them had a faulty wing from new and it broke off just past the wingtube on flight ~150.

So that's a tank I built or not? :?:

Extreme Flight Extra 300 - 104"

The original one was and it only failed because when I removed the bung to replace the clunk and line inside the bung was impossible to get back in so I replaced it with a clear one.
