You should have received an email on Monday from the BMFA about the new European regulations that came into effect on 31st December. Despite Brexit coming in on 1st January, aviation is one area where we are still closely involved with Europe and you cannot ignore this.
If you read the email, you will know that under the new regulations, the requirement to declare that you’re competent to fly a model continues, but with an additional requirement which means that you have to take action using the BMFA members’ portal to confirm that you have read and understood the Article 16 authorisation. If you haven’t, then do so today!
If you haven’t previously registered on the BMFA portal, you should follow the link to https://bmfa.azolve.com/ and set up online access. To do this, you enter a username which is generally your email address then click on “Forgot password” and you will be sent an email to set up your password and give you access. When you first login, you should automatically be asked to complete the Article 16 declaration.
For those with junior members in the family, please note that they also need to do this if they hold an A-certificate but, generally because they don’t have email addresses stored, they won’t have received the email.
If you have any problems, either let me know and I may be able to help or call the BMFA office on 0116 2440028; they are very helpful but may be rather busy because of this new requirement.
