Braizing an exhaust to a cylinder head question

Postby Tom.Laird on Fri May 18, 2018 2:56 pm

Hi
Has anyone had success in braizing a stainless steel exhaust to an aluminium cylinder head and if so what did you use? I am working with an OS70 Surpass where the exhaust port has been broken and only has about 25 percent of the threaded portion remaining.
thanks

I doubt that it can be done. The heat involved would very probably distort the head and/or alter the hardening characteristics of the thing.
A new head from Hobby King (get an ASP one ... it will fit) will cost about £30 complete with valves.
