Smoke Oil Consumption Rate

Postby Tom.Laird on Mon Mar 05, 2018 10:11 pm

Hi guys,

I am toying with a smoke system and could do with some idea as to how long a gallon of smoke oil will last. Lets assume I'm looking for a sensible density.

It will be a Powerbox single exit used with a DLE55 and on a switch so it is not running all the time, and on some sort of mix that varies the flow with engine speed.

I appreciate this could be a "How long is a piece of string" question :)

thanks

Tom

Hi Tom

Its a lot if you use it each flight
I use about a 20oz tank in an edge 50cc and even being mean you can use it in a flight easy
and I have it turned down as much as can but you need smoke or its not worth doing it
I have it on an on off switch and also on the Throttle as it opens it gives more and close less
a good days flying will see half a gallon gone easy and if you like loads of smoke a gallon
was much cheaper when we use to use brake fluid lol
its one of them things that once the novelty wears off you don't use that much so it becomes cheaper :D
You do kinda get fed up of cleaning the air frame after a while as it gets everywhere
but dose look good when its working well
Due to economic circumstances, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice
