Meet the Team

Postby Joe on Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:30 pm

Hi I'm Joe and you will no doubt in time get to love me,or hate me,as I can be one of the more outspoken Administators on HighAlpha. I'm 38 and been flying RC since the age of 13, you might think that my ability would be 2nd to none, but that's unfortunately not the case. I do however have rather a name for myself on the flight line when armed with a Shocky. As some of you will know, I also have a love of Ketchup, for those who didn't know, all will be revealed at some point in the future, I am sure
Being 1 of 4 of the founder members,i have a vested interest in keeping things moving in the right direction for" HighAlpha", but do enjoy a good banter within the forums,my view is my view and not always correct at the time of writing, we are all only human.Having only 3 years of experience in flying Large Scale and 3d Petrol Airframes, I'm still a rookie. This being said, it wasn't long ago that I was flying Club Planes, so I shall make sure, I answer as many questions as I can for our Newbie Club Flyers.
I hope you enjoy our new Forums and have many Happy Posts.

Hi,

I'm Mike and have been flying for several years now, starting when I was only 9 years old, I started competing in 2001 and to date I've won the overall British Freestyle Championship in 2007 and have one the prestigious top gun aerobatic trophy 2008, I also compete in F3A and have worked up to FAI class with over 25 wins. I also carry out reviews for RCME magazine, mainly aerobatic models from electric to ic. I'm currently sponsored by some well known companies which I display the models for at shows around the UK.Well that's enough about me, but I'm on here for technical help if any questions need to be answered I'm more than happy to help how small or trivial it is, hope you have fun on our site and look forward to chatting soon.

Regards
Mike Williams

Andy

Postby Andy on Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:40 pm

Hi all, Andy 'ere. At the time of posting I am 38 years of age and have been flying for some 8 years now, still not very good though  I am a member of 3 clubs and also fly at others whenever I get a chance, very sociable this hobby :D

I have recently started to fly 50cc petrol and am loving it 8-) I also fly everything from shockies through to YS160 powered 2 meter models and a bit of heli's, all equally as badly  So I have a fairly broad experience to draw from and I am happy to provide assistance to anyone. One of the greatest pleasures I find in this hobby is helping others so ask away.

Hope to see you all around on HA and enjoy your stay

Ben Dean

Postby Ben on Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:41 pm

Hi!

I am Ben Dean AKA "That guy with the camera".

I have been flying RC for the last 12 years (since I was 9) and I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of this hobby. My model collection includes large scale gliders, slope soarers, scale warbirds, freestyle/3d aerobatic aircraft, Electric pylon racers, EDF fanjets, small electric parkfliers and even one helicopter! Only a little indoor one though! :P

I mainly fly for the Caterham and district club, although I have been known to blag the odd flight at the Sevenoaks field.. <shhhh.... don't tell anybody  > I also often take photos for model reviews that get published in RCME. Although I am no show pilot or competition winner I am still happy to offer help to anybody with a problem and shall endeavour to do so. As with the rest of the HA team I am also here to make sure everything keeps running smoothly and to control any unruly behaviour. However I am also the resident graphics guy and I am responsible for dealing with the graphical side of the site. This also includes Avatars, so if you want me to do a professional looking Avatar for you please feel free to Private Message me with the photo and I can sort that out!

I hope you enjoy your stay here and if you do, please remember to spread the word!

Cheers
Ben

Shahid Banglawala

Postby Shahid on Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:47 pm

Howdy, I am Shahid "Bango" Banglawala. Been flying since August 2002, currently flying 2 metre size electrics with ambitions to get into 5 metre class electric gliders. I primarily fly freestyle but am interested in all aspects of aeromodelling, including freeflight!

I also fly at Stansted MFC with Ian, but like him I also fly all over the country at various clubs and events.

In addition to being useless I write a bi-monthly freestyle column for popular magazine RCM&E www.modelflying.co.uk. And am also one of the main organisers of the British Freestyle Aerobatic Championships www.bfac.org.

I also
