JR Propo 28x

Postby WalkAbout on Sat Dec 27, 2014 11:13 am

Just a quick question re this new launch from JR.

Does anyone know yet about updates etc to the software on this tx? i.e. due to it being Android based does this mean all updates will have to be configured using a pc based computer or will Apple computers be able to download and install software :?:

Based on zero information about the details - but a good knowledge on the problems of firmware updates - I would imagine it will upgrade off a file from the SD card (like the other JR TXs).

Upgrading in real time over USB is tricky and carries certain risks.

Looking forward to the manual coming online...

Version updates VERUP are from SD card, downloading is normally on a PC, but you can get an updated SD card and then do it.

As Simon says, if JR stick with SD as they have done so far it is more reliable than real time USB.

And that way it doesnt matter whether it is PC or Mac so no need to get an updated SD card from anywhere you can do it yourself in seconds with your own SD card.

Have been looking into this a little more and it looks to me like the SD on the 28X is for model memories, data and telemetry storage. There is a USB port on the unit as well so I am guessing this may be for software updates. Will have to see for sure when the manual comes out.

Cool, I've got my order in already. Really hope this isn't another disappointment from JR, otherwise I'll upgrade my 14mz to an 18!
